Directed by Dr. Dana Eckensburg McCarthy, The Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra is a musician-run organization founded in September 1998 dedicated to providing quality concerts for the community. The chamber orchestra performs regularly in Woodbridge, Virginia. Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra musicians have considerable input into the music selected, concert themes chosen, and other operational details.
In 1999 the orchestra joined the Prince William Arts Council as an affiliate organization and has been actively involved partnering with other affiliates to enhance the impact of the arts in the community. In April 2003 The Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra was awarded the “Kathleen Seefeldt Award of Arts Excellence” for New and Emerging Organization, an award given by the Prince William County Park Authority. The orchestra also received the distinguished “Cultural Arts Organization of the Year” Award in October 2003 from the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce. The OBCO has chamber ensembles that regularly perform for community events, business gatherings, and private parties.
Groups Available for Hire
Our ensembles are tailored to fit your specific needs. Duets, trios, quartets, quintets, and other small ensembles of winds and/or strings are available.
The hiring of each ensemble entails a $50 booking fee as well as an hourly rate of $100 per musician. There is a minimum booking time of one hour per event. (Not-for-profit organizations receive a 50% discount on each hourly musician fee.) Events outside of the Northern VA/DC Metropolitan area require the additional payment of mileage at the federal rate.
Standard chamber music literature is available for your consideration. Special request repertoire can be procured but may result in charges for the purchase of music. January 9th - Collaboration with Dance Etc. 7pm @ Garfield H.S. The Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra will be performing pieces from Bizet’s “Carmen Suite” & Sibelius’s “Valse Triste” which will be danced by Dance, Etc's Progressive Ballet students.
